Dance Ideas
There are a number of participation dances to choose from, and here are just a few examples.
| SNOWBALL DANCE: This dance starts with just one couple dancing. After about 30 seconds, they separate and each person picks up another person. After about 30 seconds the two couples split and pick up new partners, and so on, eventually picking up an entire dance floor of people. This can start with the whole bridal party and then snowball from there. |
| MONEY DANCE: The guest give the bride or groom some cash for their honeymoon for the privilege of dancing with them for a minute or two. Instead of money, the guest could give personalized notes (which could be at each place setting for the guest to write on) for a dance with the bride or groom. |
| CIRCLE DANCE: Couples are called up to dance floor and asked to form a circle with the women on the inside facing their male partners on the outside. The DJ then informs the couples that when the song changes, the men or women are to move 1 or 2 or 3 partners to the right or left. It can also be mixed up with men / women switching partners and the number of partners to move right or left. The dance ends when you end up with your original partner. |

THE GENERATIONS DANCE:
1. The bride & groom are called up to the dance floor and all married couples attending the reception are called up to join them for a slow dance / waltz. 2. At the end of the song all couples are asked to remain on the dance floor for a second song unless they have been married for less than ten years. The couples married for less than 10 years are asked to "Take A Break" from the dance floor, leaving the couples married at least 10 years to start the next song. about 30 seconds into the 2nd song couples married less than 15 years are asked to "Take A Break" from the dance floor, --- then 20, then 30, and etc until only one couple ( or a few couples if there is a tie ) are left on the dance floor having been couple(s) married the longest. 3. At the end of this song, the DJ asks the couple(s) to introduce themselves. Each couple is asked to offer the bride 7 groom any words of advice to help them make their marriage as strong as their own, or tell their secret to a long and happy marriage. After the couple(s) respond, a 3rd song is introduced as a dedication to the couple(s) married the longest and the bride & groom are invited to join them. (in a usually upbeat song) Then everyone else is invited back to the dance floor to continue the celebration. |
